Summed up the narrator seems to think:
A woman’s appearance is everything to her. She must make herself outwardly pretty, young-looking, and as fertile looking as possible. So, she uses makeup to bolster this image. The time it takes for a woman to accomplish these looks takes time.
Reasonable Thoughts:
Meh…I’m not sure. I think this may apply to some women.
Men DO want a pretty, young (looking), and fertile (looking) woman.
So, it does stand to reason that women know this, so there is a lot of time spent getting “ready”.
I think that there are many MOVING PARTS associated a woman getting ready. It’s reasonable that women know that men want them to get all dolled up. Women are told from very young ages that they are “pretty”, or “how gorgeous” they are. There is a sort of pressure that women have to deal with to “be pretty”.
That’s not fair but, it is what it is.
So it also stands to reason that later in life, women may find value in spending more time getting ready to you know, be a little closer to perfect before they walk out of the house.
I dunno…
Putting that psychological theory aside, putting on make-up takes TIME. When women shave their entire bodies, that takes time. Sometimes squeezing into clothes that almost or flat-out do not fit, takes time. Followed by taking off the thing that doesn’t fit to put on something else that also doesn’t fit, and repeating this process is just time-consuming.
Typically, women have more clothes, and therefore more choices. The occasion of the evening matters a lot and can complicate or add time to the preparation of the evening. An anniversary, date night, the batting cage, can play into the woman’s choice of attire. What you’ll do “after” the date plays into her choice of “what to wear”.
Surprise Time
If you are surprising her, she’s got to prepare, in the dark, for anything that might come up. There isn’t anyone else there really to help her, if she’s having trouble figuring out what works and what doesn’t.
All she might have is your lame clues like, “Yeah, that’s fine.” Or, “Oh, don’t wear that it’s too dressy”. You are only succeeding in confusing her, yourself, and building up stress for your night out.
Enjoy going out on your date. As long as you get there on time right?
Meh I dunno…what takes women so long getting ready. Whenever I ask my wife, “How long?” She spends the next 30 minutes telling me she’s, “Almost ready”.
Men work in one way, women work in another. And that’s ok – maybe even reasonable.
